Project Concept: High Mountain Living
Location: Klamath Falls, Oregon
Project Size: 2,300 SQ FT
Perched at 5,280 feet above sea level, this 2,300-square-foot modern mountain cabin is a mile-high architectural retreat defined by bold geometry and immersive views. Sculptural roof lines slice confidently against the alpine sky, creating a dynamic silhouette that responds to snow loads, sun angles, and the surrounding forested terrain.
At the heart of the home, a dramatic double-height family room anchors the design. A massive window wall frames the landscape with cinematic clarity, allowing the Winema National Forest to explode into the living space. The boundary between inside and out dissolves as light, sky, and towering pines become integral elements of the architecture.
The material palette is restrained and tactile—natural wood, granite, and steel—selected to echo the textures of the site while maintaining a refined, contemporary expression. Warm interior finishes temper the expansive glazing, creating a balance between openness and shelter.
This project celebrates elevation in every sense: physically rooted in its mile-high setting and architecturally elevated through form, proportion, and its seamless dialogue with nature.
